I guess you would like to know why I'm here...or, perhaps, at least how I got here.  What made me decide to do what I do?

That's what this page is for.

Personal History

I was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada to Salvation Army officer parents.  Things are a little different now, but then it was customary for Salvation Army officers to move quite often--almost as much as the military Army.  For us, that meant every 2 1/2 years, at least.

The only advantage to all this moving was that I got to see all of Canada--excluding the Territories--several times. (If you have never taken a cross-country Canada car trip put it on your life's to-do list.)  So, as a writer, I have the advantage of being able to place a story pretty much anywhere I want.

It also provided me, thankfully, with teachers and opportunities to encourage and enhance my writing skills--speech competitions, essay competitions, writing courses, creative writing assignments.

I always knew that all I wanted to do in life was write--and sing, but that's another story.  Unfortunately, without publishing credits and experience it is a very difficult market to make a living at, so I turned to secretarial work.  My penchant for organization and professionalism--not to mention my (then) 50 wpm typing speed--were hot commodities and so that's where I turned my attention.

Nearly 15 years of experiences in a variety of secretarial/administrative positions saw my writing and editorial skills enhanced, my typing speed gradually increased to 100wpm or more, and a means of providing for my family while pursuing what I'd always wanted.

That leads me to...

Why I'm Here

So, after nearly 15 years of commuting and early mornings--each of these things getting longer and earlier, and more expensive--fuelled by my accumulated experience, expertise and desire--I decided that it was time to put my extra effort into doing what I'd always wanted to do.

I desired to work from home aiming to make the same amount that I would working in an office job, but with the advantage of no commute, no early mornings, more home time, little to no gas expense, lesser car insurance requirements.
