It’s Here!

I received my first book as a Thomas Nelson Book Review Blogger, this week.

I chose the Chronological Study Bible, as my first book. I’m still wading my way through the introduction and explanation as to how it was all compiled.

But, having studied the Bible for college courses, freelance projects and my own devotional writing, my first thought was how much work it had taken these Biblical experts to research where all these reading fit into history and then to blend them as accurately as possible. I can’t imagine the amount of hours this much have taken.

My second thought was how much I’m looking forward to getting a new perspective on some of the happenings in the Bible. I’m finding out how much the Bible is out of order and I’ve always struggled with history. Particularly through 1 & 2 Samuel, Kings and Chronicles. I could never keep all the kings straight. So, I’m very much interested in seeing what they have done with these books and instead of reading the Bible as a bunch of stories set in history, I will be reading the Bible stories in their historical context. This will become particularly interesting when it comes to Christ’s birth, but I’m also looking forward at seeing the Hebrews in Egypt, and the Babylonian Exile.

Well, must get to it. Several things to tackle today – one of the reasons I love Saturdays, my catch up day.

Ann O’Bannon’s second book is due out before Christmas – Star Born. If you missed her first book “Star Dust”, though, hopefully it will be re-released soon, but you shouldn’t have any trouble jumping in at this point. “Star Born” will be published by Lachesis Publishing (Nova Scotia, Canada).

I have read “Star Dust” and was anxiously waiting for the release of “Star Born”. Ann O’Bannon has an amazing imagination that does justice to her characters and fictional universe. I typically don’t read futuristic romance, but O’Bannon kept me glued to “Star Dust” and I’m hooked.

Keep an eye on Ann O’Bannon
