Let's Get Started

Okay.

Hopefully, if you're here, that means you've decided you'd like to hire me.

Before we get to the nitty-gritty, ask yourself these questions: 

  1. Are you able to take criticism?  While I fully understand that the work you are about to send me is "your baby", you are hiring me to tell you how to make it better.  It is often difficult to receive a document back and have someone point out your mistakes (I will also let you know what I liked), but my only goal is to make your writing better and to teach you how to write better.  You need to know and accept this before entering into any sort of agreement with me. 
  2. Have you carefully read about the types of work I will not accept for editing or proofreading?
  3. Have you carefully considered the financing required to hire my services?  I expect you to be honest and realistic with yourself about that.

Payment

I accept payment through Paypal from anywhere.  Will also accept money orders or certified checks from within North America.

I prefer payment in Canadian dollars, but will also accept American dollars if that makes bookkeeping a little easier through either Paypal or manual payments.

 

Ready to Go?

First, you need to e-mail me to let me know:

1) What it is you would like me to do for you

2) The length and nature of the project.  (Is it a short story, book, self-help book, professional report?  How many words/pages is it and whether you need it within a certain set of parameters?)

3) The deadline for the project. When discussing deadlines please know that while every project will receive my direct attention, yours may not be the only project I'm working on the moment.

You will also need to consider:

a) That transcription of an audio file (whether manually or digitally recorded) takes approximately 3-4 times longer than the actual recorded time (ie: 1 hour of recorded time will take approximately 4 hours to type); and, 

b) That speech/ghostwriting may require research. 

Keep these things in mind when setting your deadline and planning your budget.

IMPORTANT:  I MUST have an agreement in writing (via e-mail is fine) before beginning any work.  I will draft a document detailing the rate of pay, when invoices will be issued, payment expected and how to make that payment. 

I will not start any work until I have this document agreed to.
